The first section provides a state-of-the-art review of the main types of bearings found within the national infrastructure network, with the aim of enhancing knowledge of these devices, analyzing their deterioration mechanisms, and providing tools for their classification and performance assessment.

The second section focuses on the modeling of bridge bearings, with the objective of accurately representing the transfer of forces between the deck and the substructure, as well as the displacements and rotations induced by static and dynamic loads, temperature variations, rheological effects, and seismic actions.

The third section presents the results of an experimental campaign carried out on naturally aged bearings retrieved from existing bridges and on bearings subjected to artificial aging processes.
