Earthquake Engineering by the Beach

A Relaxed Workshop on Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering

Villa Orlandi, Anacapri, Italy – July 2-4 2009

The Workshop
The theme of the workshop is performance-based earthquake engineering. Conferences are increasingly becoming events attended by hundreds, when not thousands of people. The usefulness of these events is questionable, in most cases. The underlying idea of this workshop is that by limiting the number of presenters and extending the presentation time, each researcher should be allowed to present research relating to the workshop theme without having to rush between parallel sessions and receiving critical attention and constructive comments from colleagues. During each session at most five presentations will be given and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussions, in between presentations, as well as at the end of the session itself.
