As part of its international cooperation and technical-scientific exchange activities, the Italian Civil Protection Department hosted a delegation of 17 experts from eight Asian countries (including Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka). The visit, conducted within the framework of the DGMO project funded by the Directorate General for Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed to explore the Italian model for the prevention, management, and mitigation of seismic risk.

Professor Mauro Dolce, President of ReLUIS, took part in the working session, presenting to the delegation the Italian experience in risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and the scientific tools developed to support civil protection decision-making. Following an introduction to the ReLUIS Consortium and its activities, his contribution focused on the role of university research and of the Consortium in shaping Italian and European technical standards, as well as on the application of guidelines for existing bridges.

The presence of the Asian delegation at the Civil Protection Department confirms the growing international interest in the Italian approach to risk reduction and underscores, once again, the importance of collaboration among institutions, competence centers, and the scientific community.

In this context, ReLUIS continues to stand as a national and international point of reference for the quality of its expertise and the results produced in support of seismic resilience policies.
